Here's what we were working with - an old, worn-down panel that had clearly seen better days. Peeling paint, exposed framing, and wiring that just wasn't up to the demands of a modern home. Panels like this don't fail all at once. They degrade slowly, and most homeowners don't notice until something goes wrong.

The old setup also had a solar PV system tied into it, which adds a layer of complexity to any panel swap. You can't just pull and replace - you have to account for the existing disconnect, the photovoltaic source, and make sure everything is properly labeled and code-compliant when it's all said and done. That's exactly the kind of job that separates a careful electrician from a careless one.

What we ended up with is a clean, properly mounted panel with a new meter, correct solar caution labeling, and a finished install that looks like it belongs there. The wall opening was properly managed, the new enclosure fits flush, and everything is correctly identified for future service. Clean work makes future troubleshooting and inspections much easier for everyone involved.

If your home still has an older panel - especially one that was installed before solar, EV chargers, or high-demand appliances became common - it's worth having someone take a look. The electrical load in most homes today is significantly higher than what panels from even 10-15 years ago were designed to handle. Upgrades like this one aren't just about convenience. They're about keeping your home safe and reliable.
